Inequality in Indian Education
The following is an extract from the UNICEF website.
“India has many accomplishments to celebrate in education. More than 70 million children attend pre-primary school, there is a near universal primary enrolment and there is a consistent increase in upper primary (lower secondary) participation.
However, out of 100 students, 29 per cent of girls and boys drop out of school before completing the full cycle of elementary education, and often they are the most marginalized children.”
This is a situation that the Indian government and UNICEF are trying to rectify and more information can be found here.
Notwithstanding what is being done at the national level, local NGOs are doing there best to rectify the situation too. One such organisation is the Sraddha Child Welfare Society in Agra. This NGO was set up by a dedicated group of people who have provided facilities to help disadvantaged children learn in a safe and caring environment. Global Support Link is proud to be supporting this team in their endeavours.
Below is a video from the founders, Vasu and Dansh, explaining a little of what they do. (Note the reference is to AfrAsia-link which is Global Support Link’s previous name)
