Disenfranchished Young People in Cameroon Finding a Purpose

There has been civil conflict in the North West region of Cameroon for several years. The unrest has been caused by the differences in language, education systems and culture between the English speaking region and the central French speaking government. This has resulted in violence, children not going to school, lack of commerce and young men joining the separatists to give a feeling of belonging and purpose.

Our partner in Cameroon, BERUDA, had the idea to start sustainable projects to engage with local communities, to give a sense of purpose to the young and the ladies of the community. Global Support Link , along with a long term supporter of BERUDA, have financed start-up projects of growing Cayenne Pepper, and Chicken breeding and egg production. These projects have already started and the local community are coming together to help. This includes young men putting down their weapons and being involved in something positive. They see these initiatives as giving hope to fill the vacuum caused by the conflict.

We expect the projects to grow and provide much needed funds to support the local people. Well done BERUDA!
