Introducing Our Beekeeping Project in Nepal

In rural Nepal, many women face significant challenges in earning a stable income. Widows and single mothers are often among the most vulnerable, relying on occasional work and irregular earnings to support themselves and their families.

To help create a more sustainable source of income, Global Support Link partnered with a local NGO to introduce a community beekeeping project.

The project began in Bethanchok village, where a group of women received beehives, training, and ongoing support from experienced beekeepers. The aim was simple: to provide practical skills and an opportunity to generate income through honey production.

The results were encouraging. As the women gained confidence and experience, their hives developed well and honey production began to grow. Local demand for honey proved strong, creating a reliable market for their products and helping participants earn additional income.

Following the success of the first village, the project was expanded to a second village, Gairigau, where thirteen widowed and single women were given the opportunity to begin their own beekeeping journey.

Beyond income generation, the project has helped build confidence, independence, and community support among the women involved. Participants work together, share knowledge, and encourage one another as they develop their beekeeping skills.

Today, the project continues to grow. Women in both villages are producing honey, supporting their families, and creating new opportunities for themselves. Their success has also inspired other women in nearby communities to ask for the same opportunity.

What began with a few beehives has become a pathway toward greater financial stability and a more hopeful future for many families.

We are currently raising funds to help more women access the same opportunity. If you would like to support the next stage of the project, you can donate using the link below.
